Apocynum cannabinum has opposite, lanceolate leaves and small whitish flowers. The stems and leaves are glabrous. The stalks are very fibrous. The stems are bright red, an easy field character. Apocynum cannabinum can be found in forest clearings as well as in rocky streambeds.
