Synonyms:
Bothriochloa caucasica (Trinius) C.E. Hubbard
Bothriochloa intermedia (R. Brown) A. Camus

In Bothriochloa bladhii, the pedicelled spikelets are roughly the same length as the sessile one. It differs from Bothriochloa ischaemum in that the length of the panicle is longer than the length of the branches. Both species have a distinctly purple look to them, while Bothriochloa barbinodis looks silvery white.
