Petalostemon exilis A. Gray

Dalea exigua is an annual herb that grows 6-18 inches tall. It has elongate spikes of small purple flowers with hairy, sessile-glandular calyces. The stems are ridged. The leaves have 3 to 5 leaflets which are narrow, with the end one being the longest. The leaflets are bristle-tipped. D. exigua is found in piƱon-juniper woodland at middle elevation.
