Euphorbia rayturneri is an annual, prostrate plant with leaves that are less than a centimeter long. The leaves are sharply serrate nearly to the base and typically have a narrow purple stripe along the midvein. The teeth can appear gland-tipped. The cyathia have four glands that lack or have very narrow appendages. The three styles are unbranched. There are curved hairs on most surfaces, but most sparse on the tops of the leaves. The hairs are occasionally "T" shaped. Euphorbia rayturneri is found in sandy moist areas at lower elevation in the Gila.
