Grindelia arizonica var. neomexicana is an erect herb with yellow disc and usually also ray flowers. After anthesis, the disc is covered with a gummy or resiny white substance. The phyllaries are reflexed. Grindelia arizonica var. neomexicana is found from lower to middle elevations in the Gila.
