Lotus humistratus is a prostrate perennial which is densely hairy. It has pods under a centimeter in length.
The flowers are frequently bicolored with yellow and orange-red, and are partially hidden in the foliage as they are
nearly sessile. Lotus humistratus is found on dry ground in lower elevations.
