Parietaria pensylvanica is a small plant that is found larger clumps under shaded rocks and overhangs in canyons with running water. The leaves are variable in width and are pubescent as are tge stems. The flowers are minute and found in the leaf axils in clusters. The pubescence is not stinging as in other Urticaceae.
