Potamogeton foliosus Rafinesque var. genuinus Fernald
Potamogeton foliosus Rafinesque var. macellus Fernald

Potamogeton foliosus var. foliosus is a totally submerged pondweed with one type of leaf. The leaf is linear and alternate. The most obvious characteristic though is the fruit, which has a wavy or bumpy keel and a marked beak. Potamogeton foliosus var. foliosus is found in slowly moving water in ponds at lower elevation.
