Ptychomitrium sinense (Mitten) A. Jaeger

Family: Ptychomitriaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Ptychomitrium leibergii Best

Ptychomitrium sinense is an arid lower elevation acrocarpous moss. The lanceolate leaves have cells that are not papillose, bulging or prorate. The cells are smooth and quadrate. The base is not sheathing. The most striking features of Ptychomitrium sinense are the curled/circinate appearance when dry and the multiple bistratose streaks on the lamina. These streaks appear as dark green markings against a lighter green background.
