Margaret Soucy, Staff President
Hello! I have been with WNMU since January 1997. I have worked in Miller Library, Extended University, including the Deming Campus, and now I am a student advisor and the testing coordinator. I have served as a Senator at various times in my 17 years here and was Staff Senate President 2006/2007, 2007/2008. I look forward to this upcoming year and advancing the efforts on behalf of all staff members.
Joy Lemme , Staff Senator
I am a two time alum of WNMU and proudly have 20 years of service to the institution. Over the years Iíve held various positions on campus to include Administrative Secretary-Multicultural Affairs, Executive Secretary to the President, and Executive Assistant to VPBA. I am currently the Director of Special Events. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
Donna Rees, Staff Senator / Vice President
Donna Rees transferred to WNMU in 1979 and earned two degrees from WNMU, a bachelorís of business administration and a masterís of business administration. She has been employed at WNMU since 1984.
Laura Adcock, Staff Senator
Greetings! I have been working at WNMU since July 2006 and officially as a full time permanent employee with the university since Feb. 2007. I worked in the Business Office initially and am now Executive Secretary in Academic Affairs. My mottos are: there are no dumb questions and treat people the way you would like to be treated. Every person who walks into our office deserves the best service they can get. I try to have that same philosophy throughout my life.
When not working at the university, I am devoted to my husband, two children and 3 soon to be 4 grandchildren, our 2 dogs and 2 cats. I am also an avid reader, gardener, knitter, quilter and a lifelong seamstress.
I look forward to serving as Staff Senator representing the clerical staff.
Mary-Rae McDonald, Staff Senator
Hello! My name is Mary-Rae McDonald. I am WNMU’s Human Resource Specialist and have been with the University since 2008. Academically, I have my Master’s degree in Business Administration as well as a B.S. in Public Admin. Personally, I am married to the most amazingly supportive cowboy-husband in the world with our beautifully capricious tween girl (only child). In my spare time, I adore pretty much anything. I want to at least try everything once!
I was elected in 2012 and completing the two-year term in 2014. I am honored to be a part of Staff Senate and delighted to be representing such a dynamic classification as Clerical.
Roberta Miller, Staff Senator
My name is Roberta Miller, and I am the Payroll Specialist for WNMU. I represent the clerical staff on Staff Senate. This is my first time being a Staff Senator. I began working for WNMU on February 1, 2010. I am “retired” from the legal profession having worked as a legal secretary, deputy district court clerk, court monitor, and as the secretary for two district judges. I also worked for a cpa firm for 6 1/2 years prior to coming to WNMU.
I am a knitter, a marathon runner, and in the process of becoming a “weaver”. But the most important “after hours vocation” is being “Grandma Birdie” to my five grandchildren who range in age from 6 to 16. Grandma Birdie can ski (sort of!), she is an “extreme sledder” who can still pull lazy children up the hill on the sled, run, play tackle football, knit sweaters and blankets, and do tricks on the trampoline!
I am truly blessed to be a part of WNMU and look forward to my term on the Staff Senate.
Christine (Chris) Staley, Staff Senator
Hello! Christine (Chris) Staley, honored to be stepping into a position on the Staff Senate. I am currently serving as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for External Affairs. I moved to Silver City in 1997 from Las Cruces, via Texas, via Indiana where I worked as a dispatcher coordinator for a national trucking company for 14 years. I am currently working on a degree in business administration at WNMU where I have worked for the last 10 years. I am always interested in volunteering for 'anything' that happens at WNMU, especially if it supports students and staff.
Evelyn Alvarado, Staff Senator
Hello! My name is Evelyn Alvarado. I have been employed at WNMU for 11 years, having worked in Academic Affairs for 10 of those years and just recently last year in my new position as the Program Manager for Operations & Compliance for Extended University.
