The University Golf Course At Scott Park is one of the region’s best-kept secrets. With four sets of tees for golfers with varying skill levels, its challenging 18-hole public course at 6,000 feet above sea level features bentgrass greens and bluegrass fairways. Western New Mexico University’s golf teams practice and play on this scenic course, welcoming golf enthusiasts from all over the nation onto their greens.
Here, a game of 18 holes costs $24 on weekdays and $30 on weekends or holidays. An annual pass is $1,400, although seniors and families can enjoy a year’s worth of golf for $1,260 or $1,900, respectively. Cart fees range from $14 for 18 holes per person to $1,000 for a yearly pass. A trip to the driving range sets a member of the public back just $4.
WNMU not only manages the University Golf Course at Scott Park but also its on-site Bogey’s Bar and Grill, which serves up burgers, nachos and cocktails. Enjoy a post-game burger or a pre-game mixed drink from the patio overlooking the greens or inside, where a game is always on the big screen.
