A new school year brings a new leadership team for the School of Business at Western New Mexico University and with that comes a change in direction.

As the School of Business focuses on an upcoming reaccreditation in 2018, new faculty members and a new associate dean will be sharpening their focus on what programs are viable for incoming students.

“I’m very excited and optimistic about the future for the School of Business given the organization and creation of programs that benefit our students and community,” said Dr. Miguel Vicéns, the school’s new Associate Dean.

Vicéns is in his third year as an assistant professor of Management at WNMU. He has served as the director of the MBA program and the university representative for the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). Vicens is planning ambitious goals including program improvements and greater involvement in the community.

“I’m confident that as a team, we will be successful in achieving our goals,” said Vicens. “We invite the business community to partner with the School of Business and take advantage of its resources.”

Those resources include student internships and use of the Business Assistance Program for small businesses needing guidance.

The school’s new team includes Dr. David Scarborough, a new professor of management who recently taught at Black Hills State University. Scarborough’s background includes a career specializing in human resource management, statistical analysis and new product development.

Also joining the School of Business is Dr. Charles “Chip” Campbell as a professor of marketing. Campbell has taught in higher education for over 10 years and has over 20 years of experience in organizational marketing in several industries.

New and returning faculty members will be joining Vicens in overseeing curriculum development and enrollment growth. Programs offered through School of Business include degrees in accounting, business management, general business and marketing. The school also offers a fully online MBA program with optional focuses on international business, healthcare management, management information systems or instructional technology and design.

The School of Business is located in newly renovated Light Hall. For more information, contact 575-538-6321.
