Aristida ternipes var. gentilis resembles Aristida schiedeana var. orcuttiana, except that the
first glume is almost equal to the second and the awn is almost straight. The column is not
heavily twisted. Aristida ternipes var. ternipes is another variety with the lateral awns greatly reduced.
