Campylophyllopsis hispidula has squarrose stem leaves. The stem leaves are long tubular acuminate, and have
a short double costa. The alar cells are short rectangular and reach about halfway to the costa. The seta length in C. hispidula is
longer than that of the similar C. sommerfeltii, which is not known from New Mexico.
