Cheilanthes lindheimeri is tomentose adaxially, resembling Cheilanthes eatonii in that regard. However, Cheilanthes lindheimeri has ciliate costal scales, while Cheilanthes eatonii does not. The ultimate segments of Cheilanthes lindheimeri are usually covered beneath with scales and cilia forming a tangled mass. The ultimate segments of Cheilanthes eatonii are usually covered underneath only with tangled cilia.
