Chenopodium simplex is highly variable. The leaves range in size from a centimeter or two in length to 14cm. They are coarsely lobed or dentate. The flowers occur in terminal and lateral spikes. The spikes are covered with resinous globules that are not golden as in Dysphania. The seeds are glossy brown. Chenopodium simplex is found in canyons at middle elevation.
