Erigeron tracyi is a prostrate and quite inconspicous herb that can form extensive mats with occasional flowerheads rising a few inches above the mat. It is found in middle elevations in open areas in the forest. The stems having spreading pubescence and do not usually have small plantlets at the ends of the stolons. Erigeron flagellaris, a similar species also found here, has appressed pubescence and usually does have small plantlets at the ends of the stolons.
