Malaxis soulei L.O. Williams
(Chihuahua Adder's Mouth)

Family: Orchidaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Acroanthes montana (Rothrock) Greene

Malaxis soulei is one of our most inconspicous orchids. It bears a single leaf in the midst of which a flower spike rises. The flower spike bears very small greenish flowers that are hard to even identify as orchid-like without magnification. This orchid, like most in New Mexico, prefers ponderosa pine habitat.
