Nicotiana trigonophylla Dunal
(Desert Tobacco)
Family: Solanaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
None
Nicotiana trigonophylla has long greenish white tubular flowers with the calyx lobes perpendicular to the tube. The flowers are axillary and in terminal clusters. The leaves are clasping and very sticky. The stems are mostly branched from the base. Under magnification, the stems, leaves, and floral tubes are all covered in tall, branching, glandular tipped hairs. The hairs are densest on the stems and on the midvein of the abaxial (underneath) surface of the leaves. The fruit is a two valved capsule.
Nicotiana trigonophylla is found at lower to middle elevations among rocks and under trees in washes.
