Phaeophyscia cernohorskyi (Nadv.) Essl.
Hairy Shadow Lichen
Phaeophyscia cernohorskyi is a grayish foliose lichen growing on the base of an oak trunk. The thalli have colorless, transparent cilia growing from the margins. There are copious soralia with blackish sorelia along the margins of the thalli. There are inconspicuous apothecia which also have colorless cilia along the cup. There are numerous maculae, whitish areas that are breaks in the cortex visible.
