Sanguisorba minor subsp. balearica is an upright exotic annual herb that is rather out of place in the Ponderosa Pine forest where it can be found in the Gila National Forest. It has a compound leaf whose leaflets are toothed and ovate to oblong. The small flowers are crowded into a terminal head which is green and pink or red. The color is imparted by the pistils and stamens. The flowers on the upper portion of the flowerhead are pistillate while the lower ones are staminate.
