1.     Describe the past year’s accomplishments and current status of this Action Project.

a.      WNMU hired a marketing consultant team, as recommended by the AQIP Marketing Team, to come to campus and analyze our current marketing practices and offer suggestions for a more coordinated effort.

b.     The team established a new mission and vision statement later in the year to help direct our efforts.

c.     We feel the team has reviewed the current WNMU marketing practices and are now ready to make more concrete process and practice marketing recommendations to administration.

2.     Describe how the institution involved people in work on this Action Project.

a.      The AQIP Team has various campus constituents as part of the Team.

b.     The marketing consultant team was in Silver City for a two day visit that included scheduled meetings with a variety of campus people, stopped individuals to answer questions throughout campus, had lunch in the campus cafeteria to talk to students, and spoke to the Silver City community. The AQIP Marketing Team was given a feedback report that was informative and analyzed.

3.     Describe your planned next steps for this Action Project.

a.      It has been concluded, as evidenced by the campus survey, the marketing consultant team, and the AQIP site visit, that WNMU needs to establish a recognized internal and external brand and slogan. Something that everyone in the WNMU community identifies. Recommend a process to achieve this important strategy.

b.     Recommend a process for improving student enrollment through a more coordinated and collaborative messaging and marketing effort. Campus-wide teambuilding/unity related to marketing.

c.      Recommend a process to manage negative media and WNMU employees in general. Effectively conduct communications within and without the WNMU community in to increase enrollment and an overall positive perception of WNMU.  



4.     Describe any “effective practice(s)” that resulted from your work on this Action Project.

This was a year in review for the Team. Ideas were conceived and rejected. The Team changed the faculty co-chair and other members and developed a mission and vision statement. We added a champion and are aligning our efforts with the newly developed Institutional Advancement Organization.
