Meckel is a full-time artist working in Silver City, New Mexico. His work explores a variety of subject matter, from landscapes to portraits to still lifes. Meckel explains that his subject matter is “unified by a sense of yearning and an overarching gestalt for the expansiveness of life. An extension to the horizon within an illusory space. A yearning for understanding of the sitter in a portrait. My paintings evoke archetypal constants through representing a world in flux.”
