Utilitarian potter Julia Galloway will be the featured workshop artist for this year’s CLAY Festival in Silver City, N.M. The workshop, which runs from July 9 through July 20 on the WNMU campus, will focus on producing pouring pots. In addition to daily demonstrations, students will examine historical and contemporary pottery to better understand and develop their own pouring pots. Participants must have prior wheel-throwing experience.

Ms. Galloway is a Professor of Art at the University of Montana, Missoula. She has exhibited worldwide, and her work is in major museum and private collections. Ms. Galloway is interested in all aspects in the field of the ceramic arts, from making pottery, jurying exhibitions, and writing about pottery, to studying ceramics from other cultures and service to emerging artists. Most recently, she is the recipient of a United States Artist award.
