The fall WNMU Academic Symposium will be held virtually on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Students of all disciplines will present projects that pertain to research, public service, technology, and industrial/applied technology. The steering committee also encourages exhibits of scholarship and teaching along with any other innovative ideas and creative works for the enjoyment of the WNMU community and the public.

My name is Elena Venegas Rodríguez. I am a transfer student from Mexico. I am majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Cell and Molecular Biology. Currently, I am doing research on nano-agrochemicals with Dr. Medina. This semester we studied the effects of zinc and manganese nanoparticles. We evaluated the effects of zinc on corn yield as well as macronutrient use efficiency and the effects of manganese nanoparticles for salt-stress alleviation on jalapeños.

 

Jillian Alexander

Jillian Alexander is a Graduate Student studying Psychology and Political Science at WNMU.

Her research interests lie in the areas of Intellectual Property and Nostalgic Consumption.

She is currently conducting research on Nostalgic Consumption as Terror Management response, and writing a book on Intellectual Property’s role in American Exceptionalism.

Alexander received a B.A. in History in 2013 from California State University, Northridge, with a focus on U.S. Youth Culture and Critical Race Theory. She minored in Early Modern Middle Eastern Studies. Before attending graduate school, Alexander was a member The Nordic Society for Invention and Discovery think tank in Malmo Sweden. At WNMU, she has served as the student member of the Faculty Oversight Committee.
