Hope Exhibit

Nearly one dozen Western New Mexico University students will have work in the Hope exhibition, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church and juried by local painter Gay Marks and WNMU alumnus and sculptor Maurice Camacho. Intended to reflect a hopeful expression of spirituality, this exhibit was inspired by the church’s Reverend Jared Secret’s observation of Renaissance art at The Getty Center in Los Angeles. According to the prospectus, “The subjects of Renaissance art grew from mostly biblical scenes ultimately to events of contemporary life. Today, spirituality is considered to be the recognition of a sense that there is something greater than oneself.
