The students of the Western New Mexico University music program and the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (M.E.Ch.A) organization are throwing a Chicano Street Fest in Old James Stadium on Friday, October 19, at 5 p.m. and Saturday, October 20, starting at noon. There will be live music by WNMU’s Mariachi Plata, Nosotros, El Paso Starliners, Fixed Idea, Illusion Band and Angelica Padilla. Attendees can also enjoy food from the 18 vendors, crafts, games, Chicano art and a car show. Admission is free.
Corre Cantinas will be scheduling extra stops at Old James Stadium for people who need rides to and from the Chicano Street Fest.

Pachuco Club will be performing short dances between sets throughout the day.
At Saturday’s car show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies will be awarded in all categories (Lowrider Class, Custom Class, Custom Trucks, Original Class, Hotrod Class, Special Interest, Under Construction, Bike Custom Class, Open Class).
