Patty and Paul will create a clay Tree of Life (Árbol de la Vida) in their Texas studio as the foundation on which they will build a unique Silver City/Grant County Community Tree of Life that will include small clay sculptures representing life in our area. These sculptures will be created and painted by workshop attendees. Sculpture creation will take place at Fiesta Latina and sculpture painting will take place the following month at the CLAY Festival (July 16-21.)

Participants will make 2 figures, one to hang on the Community Tree of Life and one to take home once it is completed.

The first workshop will consist of a description of the history of the Tree of Life and the Castillo family’s work, and an introduction to working with clay.

Participants will leave their piece with Fiesta staff at WNMU to prepare them for the second workshop at CLAY where they will be painted.
