Acalypha neomexicana is an upright annual with terminal and axillary spikes of flowers. The leaves
are ovate and shallowly toothed. Acalypha neomexicana is inconspicous and easily missed in the shade of
Juniperus deppeana or Pinus edulis at middle elevations. It can also sometimes be found on benches along streambeds.
