Alternanthera caracasana, like some of the other amaranths, is a ground hugging dweller of city sidewalks
and disturbed areas. It is a highly branched. The leaves are opposite, and those leaves that are opposite each other
are very unequal in size. The flowers are surrounded by white floral bracts and there are five stamens.
