Androsace septentrionalis is a small herb with white flowers in umbels on scapes up to 10cm tall, taller than those of Androsace occidentalis. Also, the involucral bracts of Androsace septentrionalis are sharp and awl-like, rather than the oval ones seen with Androsace occidentalis. The fruit is an ovoid capsule. Androsace septentionalis is found in moist upper elevation meadows.
