Anomobryum concinnatum (Spruce) Lindberg
Family: Bryaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Bryum concinnatum Spruce
Anomobryum julaceum var. concinnatum (Spruce) J.E. Zetterstatt
Anomobryum leptostomoides Schimper
Anomobryum concinnnatum forms small, shiny clumps on rock at higher elevations. It is somewhat
julaceous, with leaves closely spaced on the stem and giving a string-like appearance to each stem. Although
the first impression may be like that of Bryum argenteum, A. concinnatum does not have hyaline tipped
leaves, and usually has numerous bulbils of various lengths in the leaf axils. The apical leaf cells are longer
than those of most Bryaceae, and dry leaves can be quite concave.
Many thanks to John Brinda for identifying this moss for us!
