(Scaleleaf Brickellbush, Mule Mountain Brickellbush)
Family: Asteraceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Brickellia squamulosa Gray
Coleosanthus squamulosus (Gray) Kuntze
Asanthus squamulosus, until recently Brickellia squamulosa, forms shrubs that are many-branched from the base. The result is a nearly hemispheric dense plant. The bottom portions of the branches become woody and bare, while in season the upper portions are covered in achenes with white bristles. The leaves are scale-like, and so small as to be almost indiscernable on first look. This Brickellia prefers lower elevation streambanks.
