Synonyms:
Batidophaca gilensis (Greene) Rydberg

Astragalus gilensis is a perennial milkvetch that has no stem. The leaves have 11-21 leaflets and arise from the base. The pubescence is dolabriform. The purple flowers and hairy, beaked pods are usually under 10mm long. Astragalus gilensis is found in openings in middle to upper elevation forests.
