Bolboschoenus maritimus subsp. paludosus has several-flowered spikelets that are spirally arranged. There are many spikelets per culm and there are leaves present. The inflorescence is lateral. Bolboschoenus maritimus subsp. paludosus is a perennial with an obvious rhizome and is found immediately at lakeside in moist sand.
