Bouteloua radicosa is a perennial from a rhizome. It is recognizable in the field as a grama grass with 8mm long awns coming from the lemmas of the lower florets. Each branch is made up of spikelets with two florets, the lower one of which has a three-awned lemma. Bouteloua radicosa is not common, but is found along the dirt roadside in the Bill Evans Lake area.
