Bromus carinatus is a drooping mountain grass with several florets per spikelet. The lemmas are over 10mm long and the lemma awns are 3-8mm long. The awns of Bromus catharticus are less than 3mm long. Bromus carinatus and Bromus catharticus are our two common grasses with flattened spikelets.
