Campylium chrysophyllum is a fuzzy looking moss with leaves that have clasping bases. The leaves stick out perpendicular to the stems even when the moss is completely dry. The leaves are frequently rather abruptly acuminate to a channeled apex. Campylium chrysophyllum is found at middle to upper elevation on rocks in canyons with at least seasonal moisture.
