Campylopodiella stenocarpa (Wilson) P. Müll. & J.-P. Frahm
Family: Leucobryaceae, formerly Dicranaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Trichostomum stenocarpum Wilson
Campylopodiella stenocarpa has very long and narrow leaves. The costa takes up well over half of the width
of the leaf base. The distal leaf margin is inrolled, and has teeth at least near the apex. The costal cross section
has stereid cells (small, thick-walled cells) on both sides of the guide cells. Campylopodiella stenocarpa is found on wood
and at the base of trees but is not found often in New Mexico.
Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium, Erin Tripp & Dina Clark for loaning us this specimen for photography!
