Carex senta F. Boott
Family: Cyperaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Carex senta F. Boott
Carex senta forms large streambank clumps. The terminal and lateral spikes are androgynous (contain both
staminate and pistillate flowers with the staminate flowers on top and the pistillate flowers below.) There are 2 stigmas.
The spikes appear either black or black and yellow in the field, depending on the condition of the stamens. The
leaf sheaths are ladder-fibrillose, with fibrous bridges appearing like netting near the base.
