Ceratophyllum demersum is an aquatic herb that grows in still water in ponds. The flowers are not obvious. Ceratophyllum demersum is found growing together with Potamogeton, Marsilea, Lemna and other pond loving genera. The fruit is oval and beaked, with a pair of spines at the base. The leaves are whorled, dentate, and filiform.
