Commelinaceae
(Spiderwort Family)


The Commelinaceae have three sepals, three petals, and six stamens. Unlike the Lilliaceae which have approximately equal sized petals and sepals, the Commelinaceae have smaller usually green sepals. The Commelinaceae found in the Gila Wildereness are usually a showy blue or purple color.
