Cydonia oblonga Mill.
(Quince)
Family: Rosaceae
Status: Exotic
Synonyms:
None known
The Quince fruit looks like a hairy little pear or apple. The adult plant is a large shrub from a many-branched base.
The leaves are broady ovate. Quince must have been originally planted in San Vicente Creek of Silver City just southeast of what is now
the Veteran's Memorial Bridge, on a trail accessed from Mill Street. At this point, there are several tall shrubs, many branched at the base, appearing to be naturalized and fruiting. It is native to Asia.
