(Rusby's Flatsedge)

Family: Cyperaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
Cyperus fendlerianus Boeckeler var. debilis (Britton) Kuekenthal
Cyperus rusbyi Britton

Cyperus sphaerolepis is a perennial sedge that prefers drier slopes rather than wet seepy areas. The flowers have three stigmas. The spikelets are many flowered and the scales are greenish. Unlike Cyperus fendlerianus which it resembles, Cyperus sphaerolepis has pedunculate spikes and a loose inflorescence. The culms are smooth and triangular.
