Desmodium batocaulon Gray
(San Pedro Tick-Trefoil)
Family: Fabaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Meibomia batocaulis (Gray) Kuntze
Desmodium batocaulon is a perennial with trifoliate leaves. The leaflets are lanceolate to ovate but much longer than wide, unlike the similar Desmodium grahamii. The terminal leaflet is usually the largest. Also, the loments (pods with constrictions between the seeds) of Desmodium batocaulon are glabrous, while those of D. grahamii are pubescent. Desmodium batocaulon is found at middle elevation sometimes in the same area as D. grahamii.
