Dyssodia papposa is a very aromatic, short, mid-elevation herb. It has small yellow flowers
on stiff thin branches with short pinnatifid leaves with linear segments. When lightly crushed, the very glandular flower heads
have a distinct aroma. It is common to pull over into a roadside turnout and wonder where the aroma is coming from-- to find that the tires ran over one or more of these plants.
