Entosthodon rubiginosus (R.S. Williams) Grout
Family: Funariaceae
Status: Native
Synonyms:
Funaria rubiginosa R.S. Williams
Entosthodon rubiginosus differs from Entosthodon rubrisetus in having a poorly developed
peristome. Entosthodon rubiginosus has a peristome that is either absent or greatly reduced, with
teeth that terminate bluntly and have only 2 or 3 articulations such that they hardly protrude past the capsule
rim. The exothecial cells of the capsule are elongate and thick-walled. The spores are papillose. The costa
extends into a hairpoint or ends shortly before the apex of the leaf, which is acute. The plants are quite
small, with a seta that does not appreciably move about when moistened.
