Frullania wrightii Austin

Family: Frullaniaceae

Status: Native

Synonyms:
None

Frullania wrightii has galeate (helmet-shaped) lobules that are large, about 1/3 to 1/2 the width of the main lobe. The underleaves are similarly large, about twice the width of the stem. The underleaves are shallowly notched at the apex (and apparently usually toothed, but not in this specimen). There is a lanceolate to subulate stylus present between the lobule and the stem-- the underleaves have to be removed to see them. The perianth has 4-5 keels.

Many thanks to the Missouri Botanical Garden and John Atwood for all their help and loaning this specimen for photography.
