Gaillardia pinnatifida is one of two common Gaillardias in the Gila Wilderness. The rays on Gaillardia pinnatifida are yellow and lack the bright red markings of Gaillardia pulchella. Both species have a dome-shaped red disc. The achenes look like comets.
