Geheebia ferruginea is a tall and beautiful species, usually about an inch tall and
red brown. The leaves are keeled and have entire margins. There are no gemmae. The leaves
are slightly curving and erect when dry, but recurved when moistened. Geheebia ferruginea is
most common on the east and west coasts, with just a few collections in the center of the U.S.
Many thanks to the University of Colorado Herbarium, Erin Tripp, and Dina Clark for permitting us
to photograph this specimen.
